TRIO ADELPHAI
Biography
Trio Adelphai brings together three Italian sisters — violinists Debora and Letissia Fracchiolla and cellist Nadia Fracchiolla — in an ensemble shaped by a rare combination of family connection, international musical training and stylistic curiosity. The name Adelphai, derived from the Greek word for “sisters”, reflects the personal bond at the heart of their artistic identity.
Their individual paths led them through some of Europe’s distinguished musical institutions before bringing them together again as a trio. Debora pursued advanced studies in Switzerland at the Bern University of the Arts, while Letissia continued her training in Belgium at IMEP in Namur and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon in France. Nadia developed her musical career in Italy at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica “Giuseppe Verdi” in Turin. Individually, the three musicians have received awards and distinctions in national and international competitions and have gained experience as soloists, orchestral musicians and chamber performers.
As Trio Adelphai, they have developed a repertoire that moves naturally between the classical tradition and contemporary musical language. Alongside works by composers such as Boccherini, Dvořák, Lipiński and Bach, their programmes include imaginative arrangements of music by Beethoven, Rossini, Piazzolla, Bernstein and Ennio Morricone, as well as contemporary and crossover repertoire. This flexibility allows the ensemble to create programmes in which established chamber music, world influences, film music and newly arranged works coexist within a unified concert experience.
Contemporary collaboration is an important part of the ensemble’s identity. Music has been written specifically for Trio Adelphai by composers including K. Younis and G. Borraccini, while their artistic contacts with composers and arrangers such as Aleksey Igudesman and Tristan Schulze have further expanded the trio’s repertoire beyond conventional string-trio boundaries.
The ensemble has appeared in Italy, Switzerland, France and Belgium, presenting programmes in concert halls, festivals and cultural series. Recent appearances have included performances in Switzerland in Biel/Bienne and the Montreux region. Whether performing core classical repertoire or contemporary arrangements, Trio Adelphai combines technical precision with an immediate, communicative stage presence, creating concerts designed to connect chamber music tradition with a broader modern audience.
