Miquel Rodrigo

Miquel Rodrigo is an internationally acclaimed conductor with a distinguished career across major European orchestras, international competitions, and extensive experience in orchestral performance and music education.

Maestro Rodrigo earned his Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Orchestral and Wind Band Conducting from the Conservatorium Maastricht Zuyd (Cum Laude), and further refined his artistry under conductors such as Ferdinand Leitner, Árpád Joó, Günther Schuller, David Porcelijn, Bernard Haitink, Víctor Liberman or Krzysztof Penderecki among others.

He has been awarded several highly prestigious international prizes and honours, most notably the First Prize and the Golden Baton at the Kerkrade World Music Competition; his nomination for the Henriette Hustinx Prize for Fine Arts in the Netherlands; and his gold medal at the 28th edition of the Mostra de València, an honour he shared with the American filmmaker Spike Lee – an honour previously bestowed upon composers and conductors such as Maurice Jarre, Bill Conti, Francis Lai and Michael Nyman.

His career includes positions as assistant conductor with Maestro Jan Stulen at the WDR Rundfunk und Funkhausorchester in Cologne, Resident Conductor of the North-Holland Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal National Ballet of the Netherlands and Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Netherlands Air Force Band (1995-2010), and chief conductor at Banda Simfònica Municipal de València (Spain).

A versatile conductor, Miquel Rodrigo He has worked as guest conductor with orchestras across Europe and beyond, including Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic and Spain, and is also active in music education through masterclasses at leading European and international institutions.

His repertoire spans from the classical symphonic tradition to 19th to 21st century repertoire, with internationally recognized recordings and performances.
