Biography

Mariin Aavik is an Estonian pianist and passionate chamber musician. She is also active as a Lied-pianist. After finishing her Master’s studies at the Zurich University of Arts (ZHdK), she is currently based in the Netherlands as a freelance musician.

She has established herself as a promising musician of the new generation, having appeared as a soloist with various orchestras, such as Latvian chamber orchestra Sinfonia Concertante, Budweis Philharmonic Orchestra, Estonian State Symphony Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Pärnu City Orchestra and others.

Mariin was the finalist at the IX National Piano Competition in Estonia (2019) and has participated in numerous other competitions – I prize at the Lied-duo competition (2016, Tallinn) in duo with mezzo-soprano Aule Urb, special prize at the international chamber music competition In Corpore (2015, Tallinn), finalist diploma at the Savshinsky Piano Competition (2014, St Petersburg), II prize at the Jurmala Piano Competition (2013, Jurmala).

While living in Switzerland, Mariin also performed and recorded contemporary music, including Rita Maria Jurt’s (b. 1966) work T’ Nacht chun, played recitals, took part in various projects as a chamber musician all over Switzerland and collaborated with different Swiss choirs as an accompanist.
