Lucia Zicos

Lucía Zicos is a conductor who combines artistic leadership, intellectual depth, and a contemporary perspective on music. She holds a Doctorate in Music from the Universidad Católica Argentina, focusing on interpretive traditions in Verdi’s Il trovatore, integrating critical thinking with stage practice.

Her conducting is distinguished by conceptual clarity, expressive intensity, and technical precision. She trained with Guillermo Scarabino, Thüring Bräm, Milen Nachev, Günther Schuller, Diego Masson, and participated in Benjamin Zander’s London Masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music.

Winner of the II National Opera Competition (San Juan, Argentina), Zicos has led over a dozen operas and appeared at international venues including Teatro Argentino de La Plata, Teatro Avenida, Dartington Festival (UK), Sofia Opera (Bulgaria), and the International Summer Opera Festival (Czech Republic). She premiered Secretos del Árbol (2023) and opened the 2025 Teatro Argentino season with Estaba la madre.

Her versatility spans Romantic repertoire to contemporary creation, including orchestral, chamber, and interdisciplinary projects. She has conducted ensembles such as the Argentine National Symphony Orchestra, Teatro Argentino Orchestra, Chile Chamber Orchestra, Hradec Králové Philharmonic, North Bohemian Orchestra, and Washington University Orchestra.

Zicos is also an active educator and advocate for social impact, having directed the Banda Sinfónica de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires and worked with youth and women’s orchestras, supported by UNESCO and UN Women. She has recorded Latin Grammy-nominated works by Claudia Montero and is recognized as a leading figure in her generation of Argentine conductors.

Currently, she teaches at UCA and Conservatorio Superior “Manuel de Falla,” directs the Ensamble Ecléctico, and maintains an active international performance schedule, including upcoming tours in Mexico, Ecuador, and Argentina.
