Jens Bang-Rasmussen
Biography
Jens Bang-Rasmussen has performed as a guitar soloist on six continents. He has performed in cities such as London, Moscow, New York, Paris, and Tokyo.
Jens has been appointed as a lecturer in guitar at Heggen Vidergående in Harstad in Northern Norway. This year, he started the international music festival called North Norwegian Guitar Festival.
In 2017, Jens played a concert with Danish music in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York. In 2012, he entertained the Queen with a solo performance on Her Majesty's birthday.
Through his many years of international career, he has achieved great success and recognition for his fantastic musicianship and fine guitar playing.
An invitation to give a concert at the Moscow Conservatory of Music gave Jens the international prestige that became the start of an extensive international career. Jens has recently made a name for himself in China, Japan, and the USA. In the USA, Jens has taught at the Manhattan School of Music in New York.
Jens Bang-Rasmussen is one of the most prominent interpreters of Nordic guitar tradition. He has had a great impact on the spread of knowledge of Danish guitar music, and he has garnered great international recognition for his publications of the collected works of three Danish composers (Henrik Rung (1807-71), Søffren Degen (1816-85), and F.C. Lemming (1782-1846)). The editions rose to the top at the English publisher company Tecla. The music releases have thus placed romantic Danish guitar music on the world map.
Jens Bang-Rasmussen has toured in the U.S.A, Russia, Bulgaria, U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Latvia, Sweden, Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico, Japan, Iceland, Denmark, Kenya, Ireland, Turkey, Canada, Malaysia, Australia, Greenland, Norway, and China.
