David Haladjian



David Haladjian studied composition, music theory and piano at the State Music College. He acted as a conductor, composer and teacher of music theory at the Yerevan State Conservatory. His Postgraduate study was completed with a dissertation and Licentiate in composition and musicology.

Already during his studies, Haladjian worked for the State TV and Radio of Armenia as a music editor and from 1987-to 1991 he was the conductor of the Yerevan Conservatory Choir. In 1985 he became a member of the Composers Union of the USSR.

In the years 1988-1989 Haladjian took advanced training in Riga with the conductor Guido Kokars and the composer Paul Dambis. In 1991, David Haladjian travels to Switzerland, where he continues his studies in the fields of computer music at the Music Academy in Basel and the Musikhochschule Zurich.

At present, he works as a composer, conductor and music teacher. A number of his compositions have been performed at various concerts and music festivals in Armenia, Germany, France, Spain, Holland, Italy, Israel, USA, Japan, Latvia, Russia and Switzerland.

Haladjian is the conductor of the Ananun choir since its founding in 1993. The choir has won numerous awards at choral festivals and has become indispensable to the cultural life of Dietikon. Haladjian is also the Choir Director of the Pfäffikon Catholic Church Choir. Another component of his musical activity is teaching. Haladjian currently teaches piano at the MS Zumikon and the JMS city of Zurich.
