Darius Mažintas

Biography

Darius Mažintas, born in 1982 in Vilnius, is a Lithuanian pianist celebrated for his nuanced interpretations and distinct artistic expression. He champions the belief that classical music should resonate beyond conventional venues, performing in unconventional settings like hospitals, war zones, and prisons. Mažintas passionately aims to bring solace and inspiration to diverse audiences.

 

Education:

National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art and Vilnius Balys Dvarionas Ten-Year Music School.
Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (Prof. Veronika Vitaitė), G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan, Master of Arts at LMTA.
Performance Highlights:

International performances in Ukraine, USA, Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
Festivals: Aspen Music Festival (USA), Westchester Piano Festival (USA), Somerakademie (Germany), Holland Music Sessions (Netherlands).
CDs: “Letters from the Past. Jewish Songs” (2011), solo album featuring J. S. Bach, L. van Beethoven, A. Scriabin (2011).
2022: Performed F. Chopin’s nocturnes among ruins in Irpin, Ukraine; broadcast globally.

Project Manager and Concert Organizer at NGO “New Musicians Generation” (2007-2010).
Artistic Director at NGO “Culture Live” (2010-2013).
Artistic Director at “Vaidilos Klasika” (2016-2019); Deputy Director (2019-2021).
Deputy Minister of Culture of Lithuania (2013-2014).
Educational Projects:

Led projects promoting musical heritage in schools across Lithuania, supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania.
Organized concert series “Dialogue of Generations” featuring Ivo Pogorelić (2011).

Concerts for stray animals, sick children, and refugees.
Recent performances in prisons and for refugees with “Looking at the Stars” foundation.
Humanitarian concerts in Ukraine (Irpin, Izium) and at a military hospital in Kyiv (2022).
