Christoph Eschenbach

A Portuguese Horn player and Conductor, has held principal horn and guest principal positions with the Porto Symphony Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, LA Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, London Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic.
Abel was appointed principal horn of the National Symphony Orchestra in 2014 by Music Director Christoph Eschenbach.

Awarded at Leeuwarden International Competition, Internationaler Instrumentalwettbewerb Markneukirchen (Germany), Concertino Praga (Czech Republic), Conservatory Souza Lima (Brazil), National Radio Competition (Portugal) and European Master-Prize (England).

Studied conducting with Colin Matters, Sir Collin Davis and Jorma Panula at the Royal Academy of Music in London. 
Pereira was assistant conductor for the Ossiach Youth Orchestra in Austria, National Orchestra Institute (USA) and National Youth Orchestra, New York.
He has conducted projects with the European Youth Orchestra, Ossiach Youth Orchestra (Austria), Rio de Janeiro Orchestra (Brazil), Sao Paulo Youth Orchestra (Brazil), Porto Alegre Symphony (Brazil), San Jose Symphony (Costa Rica), Zadar Symphony (Croatia), Split Symphony Orchestra (Croacia), Philharmonic de Besançon (France), Schleswig Holstein Orchestra (Germany), Orchestra Sinfonica da Riminni (Italy), Vilnius Chamber Orchestra (Lithuania), Mexico City Symphony (Mexico), Portuguese Philharmonic (Portugal), Porto Chamber Orchestra (Portugal), Lisbon Philharmonic (Portugal), Portuguese Youth Orchestra (Portugal), Porto Symphony Orchestra (Portugal), Filarmonia das Beiras, Madrid Chamber Orchestra (Spain), Barcelona Classic Orchestra (Spain), Noya Symphony Orchestra (Spain), Vigo Philharmonic (Spain), Malaga Symphony (Spain), Orchestra de Tenerife (Spain), Uruguai National Orchestra (Uruguai), US National Orchestra Institute (USA), US National Youth Orchestra, New York (USA), Eclipse Chamber Orchestra (USA), Kennedy Center Youth Orchestra USA) and National Symphony Orchestra (USA).

Appointed Music Director of the Eclipse Chamber Orchestra in 2016 and Principal Conductor of the Kennedy Center Youth Orchestra.

Abel has been actively involved in many “Outreach” and Community projects, coached and conducted in “El Sistema” (Venezuela), was the Music Director for the Rio Youth Orchestra with students from several “favelas” in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), directed the Sound Impact community project in San Jose in Costa Rica, participated in the “Music without color” multi racial project in Portugal and led several DEI projects in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area.
Abel was also professor at: ANSO (Lisbon University), ESMAE (Porto University) and Peabody Conservatory (Baltimore) and guest professor at Miami University, Indiana University, Curtis Institute, Lynn University, University of Maryland, Royal College of Music, Guildhall School of Drama and Music and Berlin Hoshchule fur Musik.
