Wouter Lenaerts
Biography
Wouter Lenaerts, born in Belgium, 1981, studied at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel where he obtained 5 Master Degrees; for Piano (2004), Music Writing (Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue) (2004), Wind Orchestra Conducting (2006), Composition (2007) and Symphonic Orchestra Conducting (2008), under the tuition of Boyan Vodenitcharov, Rafael D’Haene, Kristin De Smedt, Ann Kuppens, Nobert Nozy, Silveer Van den Broeck and Ronald Zollman.
Since 2004 Wouter is teaching Music Writing and Score Study for conductors at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. Between 2020 and 2022 he was part of the Musica Mundi School staff for Conducting and Music Writing.
Wouter is the founder, artistic leader and conductor of symphoniaASSAI, symphonic orchestra, based in Hasselt.
Today he is considered one of the most all-round musicians of his generation. As a composer, conductor and pianist he is active on numerous musical domains that affect and intensify each other and result in a profound musical experience. In his artistic vision, he seeks an enriching synergy between the creation and performance of music.
Conductor
He has conducted many prestigious orchestras such as Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian Youth Chamber Music Festival (Stavanger), Kauno Miesto Sinfoninis Orkestras (Kaunas), Symphonic Youth Orchestra of Limburg (Hasselt), Royal Symphonic Wind Orchestras of the Belgian Guides and Air Force (Brussels), and Royal Symphonic Wind Orchestra (Thorn). It is particularly important to point out that he worked together with well-known soloists as Anneleen Lenaerts, Stephan Koncz, Torleif Thedéen, Liza Ferschtman, Lars Anders Tomter, Raymond Curfs, Nandor Szederkenyi, Jonas Bylund, Francis Orval, Stéphane Labeyrie, Karel Schoofs, Aldo Baerten, Roeland Hendrikx…
