Nihan Inan

Opera Singers

Biography

Nihan İnan was born in Bursa in 1990. She started her musical life at Uludağ University State Conservatory, studying viola at a young age. She continued playing viola until her university education and took part in many national and international orchestras and gave recitals. She continued her education at the Istanbul University State Conservatory Opera Department and graduated from there.  

While she was still in the second grade, she performed her first role, the role of Dido from the H. Purcell’s famous opera Dido and Aeneas, in the Istanbul Süreyya Opera House. İnan, who started her international career at an early age, started working with the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in 2011 and gave concerts with this company in countries such as Germany, Spain, Italy and Taiwan. İnan, who also continued her concerts in Turkey, started working with the world-famous pianist and composer Fazıl Say in 2012. She made the world premiere and DVD recording of Say's work Ses - Op.40. In the same year, İnan participated in the Montserrat Caballe master class in Zaragoza.

She worked with David Walsh twice and still continues working with Maestro Raoul Grüneis for interpretation and singing. İnan, who graduated from Prof. Şebnem Ünal's class in 2014, gave concerts and operas under the baton of many conductors, including Christoph Eschenbach, Krzysztof Penderecki, Rolf Beck, İbrahim Yazıcı, Zbigniew Preisner, Daniel Reuss, Raoul Grüneis and Marcello Rota. Handel Solomon's 2nd Women role was broadcast live by NDR and RAI radios. She received acclaim for her role as Sacerdotessa in the opera Aida, which was a production of the Ankara opera and broadcast live on television. She performed the Goethe Lieder lied album, also a work by Fazıl Say, at the Heidelberg festival, the Wiesbaden opera and the Komische-Oper Berlin opera as well as in Turkey. It received critical acclaim from critics. She did M. Palmeri Misa Tango with Presidential Symphony Orchestra in Ankara. Lastly she had a R. Wagner concert (Wesendonck Lieder and Isolde’s Liebestod) in Poland with Filharmonia Pomorska and was greatly appreciated and repeated Wesendonck Lieder with Antalya Symphony. 
She participated to Hartmut Höll and Marcus Schäfer’s masterclasses and gave concert in Schubertiade Lied Festival, Kassel. 

Since 2017, when she started working in the Ankara opera, she has taken part in many solos and choir parts in this opera. Inan, who continues to work for upcoming domestic and international concerts and operas, is still an artist of the Ankara State Opera and Ballet.
