Marin Tuhtan

Marin Tuhtan is a Croatian spinto tenor based in Rijeka, acclaimed for his portrayals of dramatic Italian and German repertoire. Since debuting on regional stages in 2016, he has excelled in key roles such as Dick Johnson in Puccini’s La Fanciulla del West, Turiddu in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana and the Tanzmeister in Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos. On 10 August 2025 he will appear as Don José in Carmen at the Opera on the Lake Festival in Lokve.

He studied singing at the Accademia Lirica di Santa Croce. Tuhtan further honed his craft in masterclasses with Nelli Manuilenko, Ingrid Haller, Giorgio Surian and Alenka Dernač Bunta. As President of the Diamond Classics Association he curates innovative formats from a floating Opera Ship stage to 3D projected Opera Among the Stars and authored MIJAU, a children’s opera endorsed by Croatia’s Ministry of Education. His multimedia concert series Opera Night has toured Liburnia, Istria, Gorski Kotar and Slovenia bringing opera to new audiences.

Looking ahead, Tuhtan is preparing his debut studio recording featuring signature arias under the baton of Maestro Surian and developing new staging concepts that blend classical grandeur with immersive multimedia. With each project he seeks to redefine the opera experience inviting both seasoned aficionados and first time listeners to discover the enduring power of the human voice.
