Alenka Zupan
Biography
Alenka Zupan is a Slovenian flutist from Koper. She began her musical education at the Koper Music School, continued at the Secondary School of Music and Ballet and the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, and later studied in Rome with Prof. Raymond Guiot and in Paris at the Ecole Normale de Musique with Prof. Christian Cheret, where she earned the highest diploma “Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste de Flûte” with distinction.
As a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed across Europe, the USA, Thailand, and South America, collaborating with numerous orchestras and ensembles, including the Ljubljana Opera and Ballet Orchestra and the Quatuor de Flûtes de Paris. She has released several acclaimed recordings such as Breath of Life, Angels Sounds, and Views.
A passionate educator, Alenka teaches at the Koper Music and High School and has guided her students to many national and international awards. She received the Fran Gerbič Award in 2016 for outstanding pedagogical achievements. She has also authored several educational manuals for flute and fife, dedicating proceeds to children’s education.
Alenka regularly leads flute workshops and masterclasses internationally and is the founder of long-running programs such as Pikolo and FlavtArt, promoting musical growth and artistic expression among young flutists.
